HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Dirt Cheap Rates: Wedding process is a long ongoing relationship between a photographer and the Family and the last thing to ruin this relationship is by ruining the memories.  As a wedding photographer we need to wear so many hats and there is a workflow involved to preserve those memories that comes with a cost.  Hence if a photographer is only interested in building his portfolio / justifiying his new camera setup then he/she will accep your wedding at any cost. However, it will be you will loose in the end as without the processes and worlflow your memories are at risk where we have seen thewedding photographers loosing the data altogether.  Hence, understand your photographer and his ways of working like how many backups, incorporating feedback while editing photos and videos and the tea.

Average or Inconsistent Portfolio

    You need to be very critical here as in this age anyone can copy pictures from anywhere and present them to you as their own work.  Now how to find this is that ask questions about the public portfolios like Instagram and Facebook where they were posted.  See those profiles if the pictures are consistent across. if the photographer is having a website then thats a good sign.  You can also use GOGGLE image search to look around if the photos are original. The reason this exercise needs to be be done is the photographer may not have experience inthe field and is using someone else work to get your assignment and trust me Great quality portfolio trumps everything.

This is great and you should find a photographer who’s work you love and makes you go wow, however it is important to remember that it is great having a few photos that make you go wow, however you want a wedding story that makes you go wow, the point here is consistency.

Recommended by Venue/ Wedding portal ( Weddingwire/Shadisaga/Wedmegood Only)

So you have picked your wedding venue and booked the date, depending on the venue they may have a list of recommended suppliers, from catering, florists, planners and photographers. This is a great starting place however it is important not to just go off this list and not open your eyes to other alternatives. You may prefer styles of other photographers you may have seen on here for example that are not on their list, you may have met a photographer from their list but not felt completely happy. Don’t compromise on your wedding photographer by just reviewing ones recommended by the venue/Portal, ensure you get the best photographer you can afford and the one you want.

You may ask why this is a RED flag well its again a very slippary slope.  You need to unserstand that there are photography teams that need just volume of work and are least interested in the quality.  They will do anything to get your assignment which means before hearing/understanding your  question they say yes.  

Beware, you are the HERO of your story and the Wedding Photographer is the OOgway of the Panda or Yoda of DUKE skywalker.   He/She needs to have those thoughts and energy to collaborate and walk you through the process, understand your requirements and cautioning you for the pitfalls.  Trust me he/she and his team will gel with you and your family and bring out the best memories on your wedding day,
